I left Austin at the end of last year listening to J-rock/J-pop but I came back with a larger playlist. haha... It all started one day when my mom was annoyed at listening to the same songs (Kimi no Tame ni Dekiru Koto and Kimi ga Oikaketa Yume) by Gackt over... and over... and over again. So she asked me why it has to be Japanese instead of Chinese. Well, that night, I took her words to heart (and because I was curious... was there actually Chinese music out there that I'd like?) and I spent the rest of the night - and morning - looking up songs on YouTube and if I liked it enough, I did a bit of downloading. Well, I was still awake when my family woke up to go to work (or school) but I was happy since I got some new music to listen to over.. and over... and over again. :) The following is a list (with links to some of my favorites).
GACKT [Japanese and English]
Kimi no Tame ni Dekiru Koto
Kimi ga Oikaketa Yume
Another World
Last Song
Regret (with Malice Mizer)
Mizerable
Redemption
Vanilla
Uncertain Memory**
Orenji no Taiyou (with HYDE)
L'ARC EN CIEL (AKA LARUKU) [Japanese and English]
Lost Heaven
Link
Stay Away
Kaze ni Kienaide
HYDE (Japanese and English)
The Cape of Storms
Season's Call
GUANG LIANG (Mandarin)
Tong Hua
Shao Nian
Ji Wo Ai Ni**
WANG LEE HOM (Mandarin)
Ai Cuo
Ni Bu Zai
Yi Shou Jian Dan de Ge
HUANG DIYA (Mandarin) - Na Nu Hai Dui Wo Shuo
SOLER (Cantonese) - Tsunami
** Couldn't find a video
So after finding those songs... I am glad to say that I DO understand some of the Mandarin/Cantonese though I can sing along to the Cantonese one without the lyrics... also because there are none. Humph... anyway, it was fun and exciting and I learned a couple "words" of Japanese after staring at Romaji for the past few weeks. :)
I just wish there were more Cantonese songs...
