The latest drama that I've been watching is a Japanese one titled Nobuko wo Produce, which basically translates to Producing Nobuko. It stars Kamenashi Kazuya as Kiritani Shuji, Yamashita Tomohisa as Kusano Akira, and Horikita Maki as Kotani Nobuko. [Oh yes, if the name 'Horikita Maki' sounds familiar, that's because she is the main character in the Japanese version of Hana-Kimi.]
It's basically about a girl named Kotani Nobuko who is a new transfer student with absolutely no self-confidence at a school and she always gets constantly picked on by a group of four girls, headed by a girl named Bando. Kiritani Shuji, a popular guy in the school with a facade notices her along with the one guy he can't stand, the ever-eccentric Kusano Akira, and they decide to band together to "produce" Nobuko into the most popular girl there. It's a story about friendship and possibly blossoming love, as I saw from the last episode I saw.
I get the episodes from Veoh, though the English subtitled versions are only up to the 6th episode, which hangs at somewhat of a cliffhanger, which is why I'm dying for more. It's actually pretty funny with all the dimensions of three incredibly different people coming together and becoming really good friends. I know, it seems like a mushy type thing but it's actually pretty funny and entertaining as they go through it all! You can also download the episodes from links from this site as well as more information.
There are a total of ten episodes.
