OK, first of all, let me get it out in the clear that I am not (and I repeat: am not) and have not taken ill with the fever. It's just a way of looking at it since I always feel so hot, even whilst a fan blows directly at me all the while. I can honestly say that I will never like the heat nor will I ever get used to it. I mean, after living here for about 9 years and counting, you'd think that I would have gotten used to it by now. But I haven't. :\ haha... My mom did always say that I had fire in me.
Besides that, I'm still pretty nocturnal. My sleeping habits changed a bit a couple of days ago where I slept at around 0300 but that was pretty much a once-in-a-long-time thing. I did get out of the house yesterday - and that's where the story of how my finger is swollen right now came to be.
It all started fairly normally except I was awake before 1430. I was anticipating eating out since all I've ingested so far mostly consists of assorted cereal, milk, juice, chocolate milk, cereal bars, assorted snacks, and half a home-cooked meal a day. (You'd think how I'm eating would affect my weight for the better, but as far as I can tell, I still weigh the same.) Well, unsurprisingly, it was also a go-out-with-your-grandparents day as well so I went with my family, minus my aunt, uncle, sister, and baby cousin to eat. At a temple. -groans- I could have just banged my head on the wall repeatedly and felt better. First, it was really odd and people either kept on staring or practically ignored you. Then my mom told me to prostrate myself before the alter to pray to the dudes/dudettes. At that point, my uncomfortability (if that's even a word) started to top the scales since I am agnostic and I'm still wondering about the athiest part. At the end, I ended up standing and pacing around with my arms crossed wondering when the food will come.
When the food came, it wasn't bad. It was just... things I wouldn't eat if I was given a choice. Like one of the food items was a steamed (I think) Indian eggplant. The cook drew intersecting lines across it so it resembled a shiny grenade. I found it interesting since it facilitated a rather interesting conversation between the two elderly women before me about how they were eating bombs. The rest of the meal was tofu, bean curd, assorted vegetables, baby corn, and all the other usual stuff. Don't mind me, I am happy to be a vegetarian for the most part and the food isn't half bad (in fact, it's pretty good and I enjoy it) but the stuff there did not do much for it. There was also a desert of beans and such, something I don't like much so I gave my parents the beans. Then I moved onto the dessert part which consisted of assorted cookies and a weird Oriental candy which was incredibly... odd. That resulted in me stuffing my mouth immediately afterwards with another cookie. :\ haha...
As we left, we were shown to the temple's mini garden whom the lady-monk was incredibly proud of, and of which my grandparents were talking about how they were pretty - also since one of those plants was from their own garden. At that point, I realised that something (an ant, most likely) had bit my right middle finger. -grins- The first thing that popped into my head was that it was payback from the gods for my reluctance at doing any prostrating. Well, it was pretty good payback because that finger is a humongous pain in the butt and it twinges and aches at every movement - even a tiny little brush from a neighboring finger! It feels really good if you rub it on something though. I just don't know how a tiny bite can affect an entire finger. -shrug-
Well, afterwards, we picked up my sister from Test Masters, a SAT prep-course and went to the Galleria. My sister bought a shirt and a sweater for $19.88 at Urban outfitters and I bought a pair of light weight jeans from Delia for $14.99. After a bit of Starbucks (my sister and I got Double Chocolate Chip Frappucino while my parents and grandparents had Coffee Light) we went to neighboring places-of-the-rich. haha... While at Central Market, my grandparents kept an on-going narration of where they could find something cheaper. I do agree though since I saw a sign for Kiwis that was 69 cents per each kiwi. The kiwis were pretty though, unlike the ones near our place where hands constantly groped at the fruits until they got all squishy and rotten. I also liked the stickers you could print out for bulk products. hehe... I had fun with that. My mom ended up getting Israeli Cous cous. I wanted gummies but.. oh well.
We went to La Madeleine for dinner after an argument between my parents and grandparents on why we shouldn't eat at the market. Then we went to another market back in my part of town that was oriental in a street well-known for the endless oriental shops. Well, we all know that Asian drivers are rather... insistent that no one goes ahead of them and my dad kept on putting his blinker on. It was incredibly annoying to me so I just suddenly said "Just stick the head in front of the car and that way they'll HAVE to let you go unless they want to get into an accident." -smirk- It worked. My grandma started to say how alike I was my grandpa on that part. haha.. My dad ended up using the same tactic to get on the other side of the road to another market.
Basically, my day was relatively interesting - yet pretty dull. I still have to figure out what else I need for UT and I finally recieved my book for the Freshman Reading Round Up titled The Ancient Engineers by L. Sprague de Camp. -smiles- Funny how me, a science major, chose to read an engineering book. Well, I never said I was sane. I mean, how can I, a math-loather and a science disliker, major in a science?
Hm... going off on a tangent, I'm thinking about making a new blog. Actually, it'll be more like a website-website since I won't put much of my thoughts in there. I have been wanted to make my own site where I can put some of my favorite HP fanfics so I can get to my favorites easier than searching through the fanfic websites' search engines, and for other people that are just bored out of their minds. It'll be weird since it'll be in a daily-journal-blog form but it'll still have my stories. I'm still deciding though if (1) I should make one, (2) if I should do each story as a different post or post them all at once or do it by genres, or (3) wait until I can get to a computer that will let me load things onto my site. Unfortunately, I already tried loading the information multiple times on both Herbert (the main computer) and Xavier (my laptop) and it doesn't work. I don't know why but it cancels halfway so it may be the computer or just me. I just don't know anymore. I was thinking about a new 'blog' because my computer actually likes going on here and is relatively quick in loading up posts.
Hmm... we'll see. :) Before then, I'll try more website hosting dealies with already-set templates (since I'm not really computer/technology oriented).
