I'm in the middle of my Spring "Break" and like in all of my other "breaks" from school, I have to say something about how the "break" from school is anything but a break from school. hehe... Does that make sense? Well, my Break has been... moderately interesting. Not as in the true meaning of the word but you know, just plain interesting (though boring makes up a large part of it, as well as dull and uneventful). An interesting thing would be the fact that even though I was considerably bored out of my mind, the beginning of my break went by rather quickly. Why? Well, I suppose the fact that I don't remember Sunday passing at all would be a contributing factor. *smile* I'm seriously not joking. I don't remember Sunday passing at all. It's like I literally died Saturday night and 'woke up' Monday morning. Crazy, I know. But it's the truth. No matter how many times I sift through my memories of the past week, I cannot recall anything that would even hint at the fact that I was here - or even alive - on Sunday. Is that normal? haha... Considering I surprise myself so many times, this shouldn't be a shock to me. Or maybe I just have some mental disorder. :D Hopefully not.
Besides that rather interesting occurance (for that is certainly an interesting development), nothing much has been happening. The only thing I have done for school - or is school-related - is Speech, which I am taking Credit by Correspondence. It's due on April 1st. Out of a total of 8 lessons, I have done 1 through 5 and lesson 7. Lessons 7 and 8 are actual speeches that we have to actually present to a real-life breathing audience and it has to be recorded. :) That's what I did today. Ugh... Disgusting. I have a thing against public performances. Don't ask me why for I have no idea. Sometimes I'm fine with the idea (like when I'm hyper and/or in a good mood). Others, I get real embarrassed. In fact, I seem to remember a time when I spent the first 10 minutes laughing non-stop in front of the class for my French presentation. Mortifying. This time, my speech was on Popcorn (seriously) so it was slightly more interesting. It was approximately 2 and a half pages typed, double-spaced in Verdana, 10 font. Needless to say, I skipped about a paragraph or so in order to fit my time limit. I saw parts of the end result: my hair was covering most of my face which was a shade of pink and when I was done, I caught a glimpse of the camera deal, looked even more embarrassed, and covered my face with my paper and moved quickly out of the camera's range. heh... yeah... Then the fact that most of my audience had their cell phones out recording my presentation and taking pictures of it - something I normally don't condone when my grade is on the line. Ugh...
Anyways... besides that, I went to HOSA competition about 2 weeks ago. :) I competed in Healthcare Issues and I, naturally lost. I actually attempted to read my magazine subscriptions (Time and Newsweek) so I thought I had a bit of a chance. Especially since almost all the competitors in this category went on to State and most didn't study. That is until I got the test. That test? Nothing on the test was in the material I looked over. Later on, I found out that some of the questions were from last year. Well, isn't that enlightening! *snort* Well, only 4 people went to State in that category - all in my school! :D In order to get to State, you have to make a 70 or above. This year's competition was a disappointment but it was fun cheering on my school and trying to outcheer the other schools, especially our main rival: DeBakey High School. :) One of the most memorable moments of the competition was what our motivational speaker said (or along the lines of what he said, I cannot recall it word-for-word): "Remember! You are special, not an accident! Out of all the sperm that came, they all came for you!" haha! I cannot remember snorting that loud. Well, I can, but this particular snort rivaled some of my louder ones, and that's saying something. *wink* And we cannot, under any circumstances, forget his hand gestures when he spoke of the sperm swimming to our egg. I believe I have some pictures. Not of - or during - the competition (and not of the speaker, unfortunately :P), of course, but on the same days (HOSA is over 2 days and was held at Dulles High School).
Humph... I have tried to load the pictures on here but I, apparently, cannot. *sigh* I'm sorry, but I'm afraid that this entry will be quite dull without any visual deviations from the words, though I do hope they provide, at least, a miniscule amount of entertainment. :)
