To Think the World of School...

It's the end of the weekend, a mere two days of "quality time" for yourself. Out the window, you see kids playing in the street, birds flitting from tree limb to tree limb, and cars flying down the highway to their various destinations. A slight breeze lifts fallen leaves on the ground a few feet onward and rustles the branches of the line of oak trees lining the street. Everything glows with the brightness and excitement of the day, beckoning you out to them - and oh how you want to! What you would give to be cruising in your car to the mall, bookstore, or the movies. To be out and free, living the rest of your short-lived weekend in peace thinking nothing but yourself and your happiness! Instead, you're inside, cooped up in your room. Why? Simply because you think the world of school.

Then there are those who don't but they think ENOUGH about school that they're one of the ones cooped up in their room telling themselves they should start on their homework while, in reality, they're browsing various sites or singing along with the music blaring out of the speakers. In other words, procrastinating. This would be me.

Truth be told, school is a waste of time, in my opinion. I mean, sure, you learn things in school but I find myself in school most of the time having a TEACHER-appointed free day! Honestly, I don't mind but the part of me that WANTS to learn is quite miffed. School is about sixteen miles away from my house! If I knew we wouldn't be doing anything in school but just sit on my bum while reading or getting on the computer playing random games on www.disneychannel.com or checking my e-mail, I wouldn't have come - even though that would count against you. I could do those things at home just as easily! It is gas after all and the prices are all-the-while steadily increasing! At times, I wish we could still live in the 1800's where school is a mere FOUR months long or less! That's about the numbers of months worth of stuff I learn at school!

Isn't it pointless if school dominates your life and you barely learn anything there that you would need for your future profession? I find that I learn more things out of school than in. School is only useful for the social aspect of life and the periodical amusing occurance. Otherwise than that, school is something to make you stressed enough that you would age prematurely and die young.

Therefore, I conclude that to think the world of school is 1) unhealthy 2) stupid and 3) suicidal.

*wink*
