The Greatest American: Elvis Presley?

So, is THE greatest American the King of Rock 'N Roll? *snort* I think not. lol.. OK. Well, you guys are most likely wondering what in the WORLD I'm talking about. Well, you know, that "100 Greatest Americans" show on the Discovery Channel. (It is the Discovery Channel, right?) And so it's saying that Elvis Presley with his gyrating pelvis may just be the greatest American according to the amount of votes he's getting. Don't get me wrong, Elvis Presley is a cool dude. He's not the GREATEST dude, but a cool one. I have nothing against him - except his little alcohol/drug deal towards the end of his life. That, I condemn him for. :) hehe... and it worked (nevermind the fact that he died before I was born). The point is that I find that just plain ludicrous. Elvis the Pelvis getting the honorable title of the Greatest American? Ridiculous. He may be the COOLEST American ever, but not the GREATEST American ever. Get my drift?

Even my sister agrees with me. And she was the one that just bought a new shirt with an image of Elvis plastered to the front of it. I guess it makes since for Elvis to be voted up there since he does have the largest amount of fan clubs dedicated to him (which I think is weird) worldwide. But they basically are under his power and are mindless when it comes to him. Sure, he made Rock 'N Roll what it is today and all and blah blah blah with all the trimmings, but he is so not the greatest dude in the US. Me? I stuck between either George Washington, Benjamin Franklin, and Abraham Lincoln. I'm leaning more towards good ole Abe. Why? Well, maybe I'm a bit biased when it comes to this since the American Civil War is my favorite war and, at times, you could even call me a Civil War fanatic - though not that far. I mean, can you see a short Oriental girl at a Civil War reenactment? LOL.. OK, I could, but it'd be strange. Also, I have my little times for each and every obsession I have. Right now, I'm an in-betweenie on Harry Potter and World War II. *shrug*

So yeah, Honest Abe did much more for America then just move his hips in a spasm-like manner and every female from here and onwards fall for him and make music history (though that has it's own range of coolness). He had those amendments for black rights as well as that Emancipation Proclamation (though that didn't really work right away). And yea, his main goal was NOT to free all the slaves, he just wanted peace and needed something. He didn't like slavery but he wasn't going to do anything about it completely. Well, even so, he inadvertantly did a good thing for this country. And that gaunt, tall, thin dude is most certainly one of the greatest Americans. He started to solve one of the most important issues of the US: racial discrimination. It's all good.

lol... anyways, enough about the greatness of people. Now... lets see. The Warped Tour is coming up on the 25th! :) hehe... can't wait. I'll be going with Hannah. Both Will and Michael aren't going for their own weird reasons. *shrug* It's be all fun and games! I can't wait for the signings, the booths, the "cheap" shirts, the bands... And, of course, I'll be hanging out with Hannah. Can't forget her! lol.. But yeah, it's all good. Just as long as I don't get as burnt as last year's Warped Tour. My upper shoulders/back of neck were burned and the skin was peeling off and the peeled-off skin looked dark gray-ish. That was horrible and I've already accumulated a dark enough tan in according to my standards and my darkened skin will stay this shade and not any darker.

Anyways, my dad wants me to drive him to the Medical Center so he'll know where the place is for next year for my Internship class. Then I was like "so we're just going to go there and come back?" He was like "no! Of course not! Well, go around and eat there..." I have nothing against that. :) Hospital food is goood. OK, I haven't tasted the food you get if you're a patient, but if you're a visitor or is you work (or volunteer) there, then the food's good. There's Starbucks and it goes on. Maybe we'll start at St. Luke's (though that's the most boring) and then go into Texas Children's to get some food there (or if not) we could go straight to MD Anderson and their Cafeteria is quite good. If not that, then we can go to one of those fast food shops on the side of the road. (Just follow the doctors and medical personnel, I say!) I also love the VA but yeah. We'd probably not go there since it's not exactly right next to the rest of the hospitals.

Well, enough for now. Hm... I better finish my math homework or read a chapter or two of my book or just go to sleep and have some shut eye.

Bye all! :D
